AO Agency Case Study: Finding an Agency with Riley Simmons
What Happened
Riley Simmons, a thrower at the University of Memphis, has a specific brand that aligns with her faith and values. It was important for her to find an agent that respected that and could find deals that aligned with those in mind. She had worked with previous agencies that provided common opportunities, but she was ready to become more specific with who she was and wanted to support– she wanted her image to align internally and externally. There had been exposure working through the previous agencies, but the next step was representing herself through NIL as a Christian college athlete.
Athletes.org assisted Riley in finding exactly what she wanted in an agency. With her checklist, AO connected Riley with Branden McKinnon, the founder of Acts of Athletes Sports Agency. With their mission in mind, Branden finds brands that agree with the values of the clients he represents. After a few days, Branden hopped on a phone call with a plan for Riley. After that call, Riley was confident that AoA would help her get to where she wanted to be in the NIL space.
Moving Forward
Once signed with AoA, Riley had immediate success in finding brands that support her beliefs and achieve her short and long-term goals, such as being a public speaker. Riley is also interested in modest fashion, so she’s been able to connect with different Christian apparel brands. Thinking about her post-collegiate journey, her goal is to walk away from the agency with future connections and sponsors that can support her professional athletic career.
