5 Health & Travel Tips with Flex-n-Fly’s Youmie Jean Francois

Hi everyone, my name is Youmie Jean Francois, I’m the founder of Flex-N-Fly, a travel wellness company that provides stretching, yoga and relaxation classes at the airport for anxious travelers. I am so excited to share with you some great tips to help you stay on top of your game mentally and physically while you travel. Let’s dive into 5 of my best travel tips for athletes:

Before you travel, plan your meals to ensure you’re getting the nutrients you need. Whether it’s packing healthy snacks or scouting out restaurants with good options, your body will thank you for it!

Hydration is crucial when traveling, especially for athletes. Bring a reusable water bottle and keep it with you at all times. Staying hydrated will help keep your energy up and muscles functioning properly. Make sure to get in your electrolytes, water alone isn’t enough and please stay away from the alcohol and the ice in flight! We all know not to eat the ice on planes right??

Long hours of sitting can stiffen your muscles. Try to stretch every couple of hours or do some light exercises like ankle rolls or shoulder shrugs to keep your blood flowing and muscles loose. Before any flight or long ride it’s always great to do a lymphatic message.

Travel can throw off your sleep schedule, but rest is critical for recovery. Try to stick to a sleep routine, even if it means bringing your own eye mask or white noise app to help you sleep better on planes or in new places.

Don’t forget to care for your mind too. Traveling can be stressful, so take a few minutes each day to meditate or do deep breathing exercises. This helps reduce anxiety and keeps your focus sharp. Shameless plug we offer these classes at Flex-N-Fly at the airport.
